Healthy Candy is a Thing, and Chrissy Teigen Loves It

Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend took to Instagram last week to proclaim their love for the recently relaunched candy company UNREAL. In honor of a month that's all about chocolate, the celebrities posed with a bag of the non-GMO, lower-sugar peanut butter cups that are made with no artificial ingredients. (They've got the right idea, since research shows Chocolate Tastes Better When You Eat It Together.)

UNREAL Candy launched in 2012 with an array of chocolate candies that mimicked bars already on the market, only using all-natural ingredients. Their tasty Chocolate Carmel Peanut Nougat Bars even won a Shape Snack Award in 2013. The brand soon realized though that they needed to do more to make their chocolates healthy. So they pulled everything from store shelves and are introducing new products like Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups, Milk Chocolate Crispy Peanut Butter Cups, and Candy Coated Milk Chocolates. The new products contain no soy, use fair trade chocolate, are gluten-free, and use no artificial sweeteners or corn products. Whenever possible, they use organic ingredients, and the coloring used is made from veggies, like beets and carrots.

One of the company's biggest priorities was also to lower the sugar content in their products, so they're just sweet enough. On average, their products' sugar content is 30 percent lower than the mainstream competitors—but it still tastes sinfully good (trust us, we've tried it)! If you want to indulge like Chrissy Teigen, UNREAL is now available at Kroger and Target stores, and they'll be in most East Coast Whole Foods stores this spring. We wouldn't advise swapping your afternoon carrots and hummus combo for a pack of peanut butter cups, but it's definitely better than the average candy bar when you're in the need of a chocolate fix.
